The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (BAMR), is excited for the opportunity to be the 2019 member-host of the 41st annual National Association of Abandoned Mine Land Programs (NAAMLP) Conference in Pittsburgh. This year we are especially pleased to welcome as co-hosts, the National Association of State Land Reclamationists (NASLR), which will hold its 47th annual conference and The Pennsylvania Coalition of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (PA AMR), which will hold its 21st annual conference in conjunction with NAAMLP.

These three organizations share common goals and interests focused on successful reclamation and environmental restoration of previously and currently mined sites including the abatement or treatment of mine drainage.  The multi-organization focus will provide conference attendees a broader range of mining and reclamation topics and issues as well as increased opportunities for both networking and sponsor & exhibitor outreach.

Pennsylvania has a long rich heritage of coal mining dating back to the 1760’s.  Between the Anthracite fields of eastern Pennsylvania and the Bituminous fields of western Pennsylvania over 31 billion tons of coal have been mined.  The coal is present in 5 distinct formations deposited between 299 million and 318 million years ago.  Those formations in increasing age are; Dunkard (Waynesburg), Monongahela, Conemaugh, Allegheny, and Pottsville.  The coal formations and types of coal present in Pennsylvania are the inspiration for the sponsor levels at this year’s conference.

Further clarification of the geologic column specifically in the western half or the Bituminous region was the life’s work of William J. “Billy” Marks.  Billy was a Professional Geologist for the state of Pennsylvania for 22 years, from 1982 to 2004.  He spent his career with the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation designing and overseeing exploratory drilling projects.  In the course of Billy’s work, he logged and recorded tens of thousands of feet of rock cores to develop and publish his rendition of The Generalized Geologic Columnar Section, of the Bituminous Coal Measures. You can download a copy of Billy’s geologic column here.

We would like to invite your organization to consider becoming a sponsor at the 41st Annual (NAAMLP) Conference which will be held September 8 – 11, 2019. The conference is a fantastic opportunity to network with private, nonprofit, state and federal entities involved with abandoned mine land reclamation. It is also the perfect venue to showcase your organization’s services and/or products to an audience that consists of 31 states and tribes and typically attracts 300+ attendees from around the world involved in abandoned mine land reclamation.

Becoming a sponsor for the conference provides your business exposure to key decision makers involved with AML programs on state and national levels. We have several sponsorship levels available that will let businesses of all sizes participate in the conference. Please refer to the “Sponsor Level Descriptions” page for more details.  All sponsors will receive acknowledgement and link to their website on the conference website’s sponsor page.  Sponsors at the $1,000 level or greater are eligible for an indoor exhibit space if they choose. The cost of the exhibit space is included in your sponsorship, however if you require additional services for your space you can make arrangements directly with the hotel through the use of their exhibitor form that can be downloaded here.

New to the conference this year is an opportunity to exhibit equipment in an outdoor exhibit area in Point State Park located directly across the street from the Wyndham Grand Hotel.  There is a 30-ton weight limit area and a 5-ton weight limit area. The outdoor space is also included in your sponsorship. However, because of the limited outdoor exhibit space, it will be allotted to the highest sponsor levels first.  Security for outdoor exhibits will be provided by the conference.

For payments by mail please click on the Conference Sponsor Registration form below.  The form can be filled out and mailed in with your payment.
